07.12e: At the Practice Yards

Harrune ears perk up. "Broken? You've walked a broken Pattern? Where?"

"Apologies. I did not mean to interrupt. My curiosity got the better of me I'm afraid. I've only met one other who has done so. I would like to learn more about it."

[Chtalo]

Ch'talo eyes Harrune for a moment, but there's no malice in it. "If that's what you call it. I found it on a vision quest soon after my Exaltation. It wasn't there, per se... I was dancing under the influence of... well, it doesn't matter, it was a sacred right. And while I danced, I painted... well, now I know it was the Pattern, but in reverse - instead of painting it in the sand, I painted where it wasn't. If that makes any sense."

"I've returned to that place several times, but there's no indication it is actually there. It may be under the moss and mud, but one doesn't just dig in sacred spaces."

[Wyvern]

Alys watches and listens for most of the conversation, taking the time to look over the guards' practice.

At the suggestion that Dworkin might 'require a service' of Ch'talo, there's a hint of an amused smile - though she chooses to let Dworkin answer that.

But at Ch'talo's last comment, she speaks up. "Perhaps it only appears under certain times or conditions; the Patterns of both Tir'na Nog'th and Ht'gon An-rit work that way."

[Joshua]

Dworkin looks confused. "No service. It seems ill-willed to require service from new royalty. You may want assistance claiming your territory. I suspect the regent may have more to say."

"Personally, I am happy to see a shapeshifter from this side*."

The guards have resumed practice.

Ch'talo quirks at the comment about shifting. "Not all of Luna's gifts remain in shadow, it seems. Now... I'm curious what you mean by territory. Nothing I heard on the way indicated anything about being landed gentry."

"As for the Pattern... I'm not sure. I felt it the once, but not again in the same place. Though, in fairness, it is a sacred site and I have little need to go there often. So it might have returned, or been there the once. I never thought to check; I thought for a long time that it was just a phantom of the ritual preparations." He shrugs and reaches for a small pouch, pulling out a pinch of sand.

"The problem is, it reappears almost every time I sand-paint. Not in full size, but it echoes all the time. And it doesn't matter where the sand is from, only that it be prepared for a proper painting, not just a sketch."

[Joshua]

Dworkin chuckles. "You are chosen of Pattern; an Amberite. You have many rights in this place. I suppose you need not choose to claim your due." he will shrug. "Not everyone has that desire. Still, your court has a leader, and you should discuss your plans with them."

He will listen to your description of your power. "Perhaps, since it is incomplete, it is easier to bring to mind. You may find it frustrating to lose that when your initiation is more complete. It is also possible, it is demanding you return to the source."

[Chtalo]

Ch'talo regards Dworkin for a moment. "Courts. I know there are four of them, but you make it sound like I am already part of one. I have suspicions, but which one do you think it is?"

He lets some of the sand fall from his fingers, and while it settles down, there is a faint hint of a pattern even in so little an amount. "As for the Pattern and all.. I don't understand much of that, but I suspect that won't be a point of ignorance for long. Survival, it seems, is dependent upon it. That plus... it may be invaluable in the Hunt."

Dworkin will look at Harrune. "Why do you* keep asking me questions you already know the answer to?" He asks**. "Well, you have been doing more study. Which one do you think it looks like?"

"Not everyone has your knack for knowing the answer before the question, but then you already knew that didn't you?" Asai's cheerfully mocking voice comes from atop a nearby fence* post. Whether she's actually there or not is hard to tell, but anyone curious enough to go prod the thin air finds nothing there**.

(*Or something similar. /handwave)
(**Maybe she was there with a don't-notice-me-spell, maybe she's playing around with scrying and some seriously long-range ventriloquism... I bet Dworkin knows! Maybe he'll even tell me too... )

Harrune scratches his ear for a moment. "Perhaps some times we are not aware that we know. Asking the question some times helps us bring it into focus into our own minds which is a step to realizing the answer. Other times it just helps to get a different perspective. Just wording it in a different way can be helpful."

"To answer the question that you already know the answer to, the four Patterns, being in a sense one Pattern, have but small variations in them. This small segment makes it difficult to be certain." Harrune ponders for a moment. "I would say Rebma." He glances at Ch'talo. "Yes, Rebma I would definitely say Remba."

"Welcome to our number. I am Harrune Tharassa Tyrnath Reran of the Court of Tir-Na Ng'oth. I shall spare you list of my so-called 'lesser titles' as most find that tedious." Harrune will smile warmly and bow to Ch'talo.
