The (Galactic) Choir

An ancient order of Nephilim decided that if there must be evil in the universe, there would be good. To this end, they recruited aliens from across the universe to enforce their will.
Recruits into the Choir must have a passion for heroics. Each is bestowed an elemental ring and the authority to use it to protect the universe. These rings can be doubled up, but not usually. Most recruits prefer to focus on a single ring-type than attempting to spread out their abilities.
The rings are: Fire, Earth, Wind, Water and Heart... I mean Spirit. (Empathy, telepathy, mind control, generic force powers...)
As each recruit performs good deeds, they earn time. A month here, a year there. These can be used to power the greater abilities of the rings.
When five rings combine, they can call upon the power of Life. Rebirth, regeneration, rejuvenation. Years can be withdrawn to de-age individuals, allowing the ring-bearers to live exceptionally long lives. If the bearers are active enough, they might be able to bring their families along as well. Finally, if one can pay for the restored lifespan, one can bring the recently deceased back from the dead.
