At the servant's return, Willoughby scrapes the rest of the easily-accessible sludge into the cleaning pan.

It is then down to the material stuck to the carpet fibers. The worst of it, the parts that stain, will dissolve in Korster's oil; he applies a liberal dosage and painstakingly smoothes it with the fine scrub brush. A small amount of water, treated with a few drops of extract of jabuticaba root (it's powerful stuff) should get the rest of it up onto the brush. None of this, however, will completely remove the smell; for that, lime is necessary. A light dusting of the affected area (which is already slightly damp) should suffice, but it will take a few minutes to work.

With those steps completed, Willoughby empties both serving tray and cleaning pan into the sealed barrel.

By the time you're done with the job at hand, Lady Eleanor has retreated to her quarters, and the king - having no further excuse to stay around and question you - has also left for parts unknown.

It's a fairly safe bet that he'll at least try to have someone spying on your eventual report to Lady Eleanor, though.

"Wasn't that great, Mr. Willoughby! Dinner and some action! It was even better than I had hoped."

Ametrine puts the circlet away, and watches the Etneral Butler clean the floor.

"I guess we're off to Lady Eleanor's quarters to finish giving the report? Or should I head to the king while you go to Eleanor's? That might be more expedient."
