Post subject:  Chapter XV: Fruitbats

Continued from Chapter XII.

Several hours (and a couple swarms of vampiric lizardfolk mixed with a few gnolls, not to mention a couple dozen traps and a wildabeast) later, you've finally managed to track down the last large negative energy source in the ruined temple.

It's a small storage room off one of the main corridors, barrels and chests piled haphazardly and coated in dust and cobwebs.

One chest in particular stands out - it is heavily reinforced, boasts a remarkable collection of locks, and is open.

Skirrik looks up. "I don't suppose any of you know why this piece of junk was worth putting in the most heavily trapped chest in here?"
He holds up a small dragonbone cube - clearly the dracolich's phylactery.

Thirwin's eyes widen a moment, "Did you check that for traps also?" he asks.

He does seem a little bit excited, "If Tycho asked for help for the dragon, it's possible it might link strongly to the vile god."

"Tycho mentioned the dragon as being helpful... I'm not sure what to make of that. And, Skirrik, you are likely holding the soul of a dragon. You might want to put it down."

"Oh," Skirrik says. And then flips his tentacle over and slams the cube against the floor. It bounces, and Skirrik sighs. "I suppose that would have been too easy..."

Gregor rushes forward to grab the bone.
"Anybody know what to do with this? I've been thinking of requesting Artemis' direct intervention in it's destruction? Any better ideas?"

Thirwin nods, "I should be able to seal him in there until we can destroy the item. I am curious though," he asks Stewart, "How did Tycho say this dragon could be helpful?"

He absently looks over the bone cube in Gregor's hands as he talks.

"It doesn't matter. The dragon needs to go. And this temple needs to be cleansed."

"The wording could be important," Thirwin goes on, "for example, we might be able to use this to contain the taint, or... if it's the heart of the temple, I might be able to transfer that link to the Sun symbol. Which would be easier to do before it's destroyed. If that's even an issue."

" If you did switch the link to the Sun symbol, what if whatever is on the other end uses it to taint that symbol or somehow make things even worse here? We have it's phylactery, we should destroy it"

Skirrik, apparently unconcerned, is rummaging around the room. A few knicknacks and bits of jewelry start to pile up on the floor, before he gets distracted by a barrel full of salted fish.
