Alas, there are more immediate questions than name, quest, and favorite color. Like: "What is the average air speed velocity of an unladen dracolich?"

While the sages might spend hours debating such a conundrum, the practical answer is obvious: too much. Forty feet of undead dragon simply appears in midair over the collection of you, unleashes a mighty blast of dark energy, and is at least three hundred feet away (and flipping around for another strafing run) before anyone has a chance to react.

Everything around the paladins is dead. The few trees in the area have gone white, and leaves and dead insects drift down to the suddenly still water. Stewart, Thirwin, and Eenyrl, having been just outside the edge of the blast, are unharmed. More curious, though, is that none of the paladins seem hurt, either...

thirwin almost reflexively activates his stone. Figuring the other people here should be able to handle the actual dragon, he fishes for the holy symbol, not displaying it openly yet. He waits to see how fast the dragon returns and what others are doing.

Stewart frowns at the dracolich, turning to the paladins to say "truce?" At the same time, a membrane forms around him concealing him from view and a alabaster harpy forms above him.

Gregor whips off a quick spell, and touches his electrified hand to his sword storing the spell. the holy light around Gregor grows as blue lightnings join the yellow ones playing up his sword and Gregor gets ready to launch himself at the dracolich.

I must say, potentially having a Vile God after me for attacking one of his minions ostensibly sent to help will be a first. Usually it's the so-called "good" ones after me for self-defense... Aurora comments, her "voice" tinged with sardonic humor. Perhaps I could get a posthumous induction into one of the orders that's got a price on my head? Then again, being hunted by a vile might well be a refreshing change of pace...

Thirwin looks over at the paladin, and figures he's got this, still... He chants, invoking the harbingers of light to protect those that battle evil, and a bright Holy Aura engulfs him, and everyone. (unless you want spell resistance against it...)

I'd recommend against it, Luma replies. At worst, the "good" guys will only kill you.

The dracolich finishes its ariel flip, and comes zooming back in. Several of the paladins, still not prepared for this fight, simply scatter to avoid giving it a good target with its breath weapon.

Sorgath looks back at Ellenian for a moment, and then gives an annoyed shrug before launching himself into the air to meet the dracolich. Alas, his attack slices straight through the dragon without actually dealing any damage - as if the thing wasn't even there. Its retaliatory bite, however, connects quite solidly.

Gregor's attack is rather more successful, shattering through the bones of its upper leg and ribcage. Of course, where such a blow would have slain anything living, the dracolich doesn't seem to even notice that its limb isn't connected anymore - raising its claws and swatting Gregor aside as if its skeleton was still fully connected.

And then it actually attacks, unleashing a blast of searing cold this time. Sorgath and Ellenian are the only ones caught in the line of effect. Sorgath drops several feet under the sudden weight of frost condensed out of the air; Ellenian is rather worse off: her feet are now encased in a solid block of ice that had been the water of the swamp.

Still, she follows the dragon's attack with one of her own: an airburst of holy power that heals Sorgath even as it tears into the white dragon.

Gregor collects himself, reflexively casts a spell recognized as heroism to those who can tell such things as his sword starts crawling with blue and white lightning again and Gregor once again starts glowing with holy light. He stays by the dragon and attacks all out with as any swings as he can muster panting as he regains his breadth.

Thirwin looks over at Stewart, "Do you think he's got it?" he says before casting heal on Ellenian.
He then kneels and instructs the ground to get between the dragon and any paladin he's going to breathe at... except the flying paladin.

"Perhaps, but you can never be too sure." Stewart and his construct simultaneously send energy flying at the dracolich. The construct's blast is little more than a waver in the air, but it flies past anything in it's way to the dracolich without harm. Stewart's is a more traditional green beam of destruction, and he takes more care to aim.

The construct then flies at the dracolich, attempting to flank it but accepting any amount of harm it can cause.
