The Nexus is a gleaming metal construction, in mostly variations of brass and bronze. Or, at the very least, most of the public areas are lined in these metals. It is sometimes called the City of Gold - partly for the coloration, and partly for the wealth that its trade brings in.
The single most notable location in the Nexus is the Plaza: A vast room, its ceiling decorated with an enormous and ornate clock face showing - in addition to regular time - a sun, six different moons, and (at night) a vast and shifting profusion of stars. Weather is not included in the clockwork display - perhaps because the room is large enough to have its own weather system, complete with a few puffy clouds and the occasional spattering of rain.
Roughly half of the plaza is open air market; the other half is a carefully tended park, replete with flowers and trees from a thousand different realms.
