MGC 096: Elements of Magic Theory (3/1)*
Prerequisite: None. Students who have a 400 tSAT score or above are exempt from this class.
Description: This course provides a solid foundation in magic for students who have had no previous experience and acts as a review of basic magical concepts.
Topics: The interplay between the four elements, the nature of bursting, the differences between Praeda and Venator, and the relationship between the three worlds. Lab will require the ability to cast one defensive and one offensive spell. Additional topics and legends may be introduced depending on student needs.

MGC 098: Magic Orientation (1)
Prerequisite: None. Students who have a 650 tSAT score or above are exempt from this class.
Description: A relatively short series of tests and instruction to make sure that entering students do not have any gaps in their basic knowledge.
*: The course meets three hours a week for the first three weeks of class and up to one hour a week as needed in the following weeks.
Topics: Proper terminology. Verification of basic spell competency, including ability to use one offensive and one defensive spell, and a number of solo-element spells. Additional topics may be introduced based on student needs.

MGC 099: Controlled Burst Experience (2/2)*
Prerequisite: No previous bursts.
Description: While most students have already used magic for the first time, there are circumstances where a student might not have had the right experience for them. his one-on-one course involves creating a burst in a controlled and safe environment. After the student bursts, the rest of the course involves basic exercises to bring the student up to the level needed for 100 level classes. May be taken concurrently with MGC 096.
Topics: Initial Burst. Discussion of bursting and burst techniques. Basic magic exercise.
